Much like pickles fermenting in a jar, TikTok has microcultures growing within it that infuse the app with different flavors. For pickle lovers, it’s not difficult to find an endless scroll of pickle creators on your For You page. There are content creators serving as pickle makers, pickle reviewers, pickle sellers, and even devout pickle priests on TikTok.

For instance, Isabel Miske, or @IzEatsEverything, has been a full-time “pickle maker” for three years. While she makes content about other food, she finds that pickles remain the most popular with her community of over one million TikTok followers. Out in public people often identify her as the “pickle girl.”

“Even on my other videos people will comment and say, ‘I love your pickle videos,’” Miske said.

For almost as long as Miske has been creating content, she has been posting her popular Roll for Pickles series, in which a set of dice decide the recipe of the pickles she will be making that week. While the vast majority of the randomized pickles are not appealing, her audience would be very disappointed if they didn’t see their weekly fix of pickle making.

“Sometimes I think, ‘I can’t taste these nasty pickles anymore,’” she said. “I think I said that in a video, and everyone was like, ‘No don't stop, you can never stop!’”

Simone Guidry, or @Sim1Eats, is another content creator that struck success with pickle videos. She isn’t just a pickle influencer: her content is varied, ranging from lifestyle content to food challenges. Through it all, she said that her forays into pickle content always perform well.

Her first pickle video was a part of her series where she eats an entire fish tank’s worth of one food. Pickles have filled her tank more than once, and her audience eats it up every time. One of her biggest videos is a taste test of the viral Jimmy John’s picklewich, a coldcut sandwich bookended by pickles instead of bread.

She finds that because people love pickles so much, there is always a new pickle trend to try out as a pickle lover herself. She has covered many limited edition pickle items made by different fast food restaurants.

“Grillo’s Pickles did a smoothie collab I was hesitant to try. I love pickles, but I don’t know how they’re going to be in a smoothie,” Guidry said. You might not think that pickles and bananas are a delicious pairing, but Guidry was pleasantly surprised.

Both creators found that the users interacting with their pickle videos are loyal. Miske said she recognizes many users liking and commenting on her pickle videos today from her earliest posts. Despite the fact pickles take up much of Miske’s time and valuable fridge space, much like her audience, she never gets sick of them.

“At the end of the day I know I’ve always got to come back to the pickle,” she said. “Always.”
